What is Studio Snippets?
Welcome to Studio Snippets, and a huge thank you for subscribing.
Let me say a big virtual ‘hello’ and introduce myself, incase you don’t know who I am.
I’m Abby and I am an illustrator and designer with over ten years experience, and I live and work near the South Downs, just over the other side from Brighton, U.K.

What you can expect from subscribing to Studio Snippets:
And a whole heap of other stuff! I love films, and interior design to name a few…

A bit more about my work…
My illustrations are created using traditional mixed medias - often inks, acrylic paint that I like to mix with pencils and pens onto paper, and I then scan and sometimes assemble those drawings digitally.
I studied Illustration at Falmouth University, graduating with a First Class BA Honours degree, and I have been delivering freelance illustration ever since. I have a wealth of experience with a variety of clients for whom I love working with, including businesses and brands of any size. I have worked within a large spectrum of illustration projects including publishing (both children’s non-fiction and adults), editorials, information graphics, packaging, logo development, maps/reportage and branding work. I really enjoy food illustration, location drawing and landscapes, still life compositions, drawing things within our natural world and architecture. I also love working with hand lettering and designing typefaces.
Throughout this time, I’ve had some brilliant experiences, and some that have not been so great. I am really passionate about chatting about the industry of Illustration, and meeting fellow creatives. Let’s be honest, when you work for yourself, it is amazing, but it can also be a bit lonely, and I want everyone to feel like Illustration as a career is a real option. Not something that is exclusive. I genuinely love to share knowledge, ideas, experiences, recommendations and chat to fellow creatives.
I am also a BIIIIG fan of sketchbooks. Since I started my university course, I have kept one to hand, and I use them in a variety of ways. I started a hashtag on Instagram #ShowYourSketchbook (it has over 16k posts already!) to give everyone- whether it is your profession or not - a chance to share what you use your sketchbooks for without the need to create a ‘perfect’ spread. I think sketchbooks should be for experimentation, ideas, lists, scribbles, good drawings and the bad ones, but MOST IMPORTANTLY…FUN!
I would love for you to subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and publication archives. I am keeping it free for all, but I am really open to hearing about what resonates with you, what you might want to read more of? As I start my Substack it’s a learning-as-we-go thing, y’ know?
Best wishes,
